Rank

The Clario Rank node allows you to produce a new attribute containing ranks based on the values of a specified numeric attribute.

Configuration

The Rank node has only one configuration tab.

Available Attributes

Available Attributes contains all the attributes on the incoming data stream.

Selected Attribute

Drag and drop an Available Attribute into the Selected Attribute field to choose which attribute to produce ranks for. Rows with null Selected Attribute values will have a null rank. To remove an attribute, press the [-] button.

Weight Attribute

Drag and drop a numeric Available Attribute into the Weight Attribute field to replicate each row a number of times equivalent to the value of the Weight Attribute.

Weight Attributes must contain positive integers. Rank will exclude rows containing negative, zero, or null Weight Attribute values. Decimal Weight Attribute values are not allowed and will cause a workflow to fail.

To remove an attribute, press the [-] button. If you do not wish to apply a weight, leave the Weight Attribute field empty.

By Attribute

Drag and drop an Available Attribute into the By Attribute field to create a separate set of ranks for each distinct value of the By Attribute. To remove an attribute, press the [-] button. If you do not wish to create multiple sets of ranks, leave the By Attribute field empty.

Settings

Tie Break Method

Specify the Tie Break Method for assigning equal values to a rank. Options are:

  • Low: Lowest rank of the tied values used for ties.
  • High: Highest rank of the tied values used for ties.
  • Mean: Mean rank of the tied values used for ties (the default setting).

Segments

Specify the number of segments you want to divide the data into for ranking. Each segment will contain a relatively equal amount of rows. The maximum value for number of segments is 999.

If a By Attribute is selected, segmentation will occur within each group.

New Rank Attribute

Enter the name of the attribute that will contain the new ranks. The default name is ‘attribute_rank’. Attribute names may only consist of the following characters: A-Z, a-z, 0-9, ‘-‘, and ‘_’.

Sort Order

Specify the order of the assigned ranks. With ascending sort order, the smallest values of the Selected Attribute receive a rank of 1 (the default setting). With descending sort order, the largest values of the Selected Attribute receive a rank of 1.

Output Stream

All attributes are passed through to the Rank node’s outgoing connector with the Rank Attribute added to the end of each row.
